Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas

Just to mix up the fun we took a 7 night cruise with Royal Caribbean Freedom of Sea ship. Now keep in mind, we have went on several Disney Cruises before so I will admit it, the quality of service doesn't compare with Disney. Disney services was top-notched. Royal Caribbean was okay. I personally don't think Royal Caribbean main focus is family. The rooms were okay, nothing fancy just a standard room with balcony. I love having a balcony because when the kids are asleep, I can sit and watch the sunrise at sea which is a beautiful thing. Royal Caribbean had a great sail away party, with the characters DreamWorks Experience Shrek, Fiona, King Julien.

The food on the cruise was good and they offered tons of varieties. Royal Caribbean also offer wine tasting(fun) and if you are into gambling there is a casino on-board! The ship is beautifully decorated so you will enjoy walking the ship. However, there are limited photo opportunities with the characters. There are only 3-4 photo opportunities a day, whereas with Disney, you couldn't turn a corner without running into Tinker Bell, Goofy, Mickey, Peter Pan, Chip and Dale the list is endless.

As far as the kids program, if you have a child under 3 you will have to pay $8/hr(Disney $6) but it's affordable. When we cruised there weren't many kids on-board. In the Royal Baby and Tots infant/toddler room, I think the most I seen in there maybe 3(including my kid). My older daughter enjoyed the Adventure Ocean Club. I will be honest, I don't think they offered a variety of entertainment like Disney, they did the same activities all day long!! However, the kids enjoyed it and there were only about 15 kids at the most in the Adventure Ocean Club.

So the big question.....will I ever cruise Royal Caribbean again? Sure. Maybe when my little one get a little older, our family make the best out of any situation. We had fun! My husband and I did a zip line excursion in St. Marteen and snorkeled in St. Thomas. I don't think this ship is really geared to families with small kids.
